Free things to do in London this weekend

January is a long month.

You felt great when your boss paid you early for Christmas, but five weeks later, you’re feeling the pinch.

Don’t glaze over with boredom waiting for payday – we’ve found some fun things to do in London this weekend for free!

Go for a run in Battersea Park

Kick your weekend off with a run/jog/brisk walk around one of London’s most iconic parks. It’s set to be a bright and dry weekend so there are no excuses! Click here for route inspiration.

Take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch

Every year, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) conduct a nationwide survey of the wonderful, feathered friends we live alongside. This year, the Big Garden Birdwatch 2015 takes place on the 24th and 25th of January, so start counting now!

Go see Paddington Bear

It’s the last couple of weeks to catch A Bear Called Paddington at the Museum of London. The excellent exhibition consists of a collection of trinkets that chart the famous bear’s journey from page to screen, so get the kids together for this fun and free day out.

Explore London on foot

Winter Wanders is back! Walk London, funded by TfL, provides an array of free walking events for inquisitive Londoners to enjoy all the bits of the city that are easily missed when travelling by tube, bus or car.

Celebrate Burns Night

Sunday the 24th of January 2015 is Burns Night – the celebration of Scottish poet Robert Burns’ birthday. So, get the whisky out of the liquor cabinet, deep fry some Mars bars and invite the family over this weekend.
